El Taco Real
935 E Hoffman St Hammond, IN 46327 219-932-8333 Reviews and Map |
Owner Ray Garcia is very accommodating. When I explained my needs, he spent quite
a bit of time on the phone with me. He recommended carne asada, bistek ranchero
and carne con chile especial as his staff prepares them from scratch so he can
vouch for the ingredients. Mr. Garcia was alert enough to realize that their corn
tortillas and tortilla chips might be contaminated by wheat flour in the
factory, so he recommended avoiding those. He requested more information so if
other celiacs dine there in future he will know what he can safely offer.
Well-established family-owned restaurant with a big menu, competitive prices,
excellent service. They do not take reservations. On weekends there is always a
line out the door at dinnertime, but I have never regretted the wait.

They use only fresh meat, so you can have a steak (not the filet which is wrapped in bacon) made plain. They can clean the grill & use a clean utensil for your steak. We usually bring our own dressing. |
