Dr. John D. Turner, DC, CCSP, DIBCN and Kathryne Pirtle, clarinetist of the Orion Ensemble, co-authors of the new book, Performance without Pain—A Step-by-Step Nutritional Program for Healing Pain, Inflammation and Chronic Ailments in Musicians, Athletes, Dancers and Everyone Else (pub. by New Trends), offer a special lecture highlighting the topic of recovery from malnutrition associated with digestive disorders. They will discuss the prevalence of digestive disorders in our country, how our modern foods and nutritional dictates are promoting this increase and optimal nutritional solutions to healing.

Because people with digestive disorders develop problems with nutrient absorption, these types of disorders often lead to malnutrition. Malnutrition affects the proper functioning of all body systems. For maximum recovery to occur, choosing nutrient-dense foods that will help restore the digestive tract and offer ample nutrients to rebuild the body is essential.

In this lecture, Dr. Turner, a prominent chiropractic physician who specializes in nutritional answers to healing chronic ailments and Kathryne Pirtle, a clarinetist who has a national career as a performing artist and has recovered from the career and life-threatening effects of long-term Celiac disease, explore the integral relationship between digestive ailments and malnutrition and our modern foods, food supply, and nutritional dictates. They will discuss solutions to healing through a diet based on traditional nutrient-dense foods founded on the infallible research done on healthy populations worldwide—populations that had no chronic illness.
